Dedicated nurse has room named after her at Warwick Hospital

A HARD-working nurse has been recognised for her dedication to Warwick Hospital by having a room there named after her.

Julie Smith has worked at the hospital since 1994 and as the manager of Castle ward, which cares for patients with stomach illnesses, for more than eight years. As a way of thanking her for her work, the hospital is re-naming a day room on the ward the ‘Julie Smith day room’.

She has also been a staff governer since South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, achieved foundation trust status two years ago.

Ill health has meant she can no longer work in a managerial role, but she continues to work for the trust as a patient experience officer.

Trust chief executive Glen Burley said: “Julie has been a role model to many of our staff over the last few years. She leaves an amazing legacy and it seemed fitting to formally acknowledge her contribution to patient care.”
