Repairs to the Grade II listed bridge on Leamington Road began on Tuesday evening are vital after a vehicle crashed into the wall on July 9.

But will mean reduced traffic flow as one lane is closed each day to accommodate a team of specialist stonemasons who will repair and reconstruct part of the stone parapet wall.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire County Council which is behind work, said: “Repairs began on Tuesday evening and work is expected to last for six weeks.

“This will be done in off peak hours to minimise traffic disruption.

“Single lane closure is required to carry out the work but to minimise inconvenience to motorists during peak travel times, work will be restricted to 9.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday.

“During these hours temporary traffic lights will be in operation. Delays are anticipated for the duration of the works which is essential to ensure the safety of bridge users.”
