Dentists prepare to dive in for charity

LEAMINGTON dentists have joined the many groups and businesses that have committed to swimming their way to raising funds for two south Warwickshire charities.

The Dental Divers - more usually known as staff at Dental Solutions in Hamilton Terrace - have signed up to take part in the Soroptimists Swimathon at Warwick School on Sunday October 14.

The event, which is being organised by the Warwick and Leamington and Kenilworth branches of the Soroptimists International women’s group, is this year supporting the Myton Hospices and the Leamington branch of Parkinsons UK.

Dentist Bronwen O’Brien said: “This is the first time we are entering a team, but I had done it before and one of our nurses, Sarah Robinson, recently did a skydive for Myton Hospice.

“We wanted to carry on with the charitable efforts.

“Our swimming abilities vary but it will be fun.”

There is still time for teams to apply to enter and begin raising sponsorship money, which will be donated to the two charities.

Teams must be made up of six swimmers, who will swim in relay for 55 minutes, and a non-swimming team captain. There are cups to be won for the team that raises the most sponsorship and the team that swims the most lengths.
