Warwick District Remembers was a concert and drumhead service marking the centenary of the Great War and was the first time such an event had been held in the district.

The man behind it, Adrian Barton, said it had been a fantastic success - so much so that the event has already been planned again for next year.

The concert featured music and singing from the Band of the Royal regiment of Fusiliers, the Royal Naval Association Male Voice Choir, the County Music Service Community Band, Amy Thomas and Abigail Rhodes, an emotive drama from Heartbreak Productions, hymns and prayers, a drumhead service, presentation of standards and much more.

Mr Barton said: “The night was unbelievable -it couldn’t have gone any better. The feedback from everyone has been amazing.

“The artists pulled out all the stops. Considering that this isn’t their full-time job, they were all fantastic. Their professionalism was second to none.”

Mr Barton came up with the idea for the concert last year and has worked tirelessly since to see his vision become a reality. And he paid tribute to all those who had helped, supported and contributed to make it happen.

It was supported by all the local Royal British Legion branches, Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth and Whitnash town councils, the district and county councils and principal sponsors BPS, Linleigh Electricals, Blythe Liggins Solicitors and Hawkesford estate agents.

Mr Barton added: “I’d like to thank the sponsors who made it possible with their financial contributions but also everyone who helped to make this a memorable occasion.”
