Diving in for Soroptomists Swimathon 2011

OVER 100 swimmers took to the waters of Warwick School’s swimming pool last weekend to raise money for the Soroptomists Swimathon 2011.

The 14th annual swimathon took place last Sunday, this year raising money for Myton Hospice and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance, with 138 swimmers completing 1,445 laps throughout the day.

The final total isn’t yet known, but over £6,000 has already been raised by the 25 teams who entered. Among those teams entering were Swimathon veterans Specsavers, newcomers Warwick Tweeetup, and teams entered by the sponsored charities.

Soroptomist Patricia Dent said: “It was absolutely splendid, it really was excellent. Everybody was smiling and enjoying themselves, and lots of people were cheering on their teams.”
