Double marathon effort in memory of brave teen

AN UNCLE’S love for his late niece has inspired him to complete a gruelling run which raised thousands of pounds for a cancer charity.

Martin Clark ran 52 miles - the equivalent of back to back marathons - around Long Itchington in the wind and rain on Sunday.

The challenge, which took Mr Clark ten hours to complete, and a quiz held at the Green Man pub has helped to raise £10,000 for the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of 16-year-old Trinity School pupil Becky Bishop who died of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma on March 8.

More than 50 runners of various ages took turns to accompany Mr Clark along the way,

Mr Clark said: “There are days which far outweigh expectations when a community comes together for a common cause, and this was certainly one of them.

“Perhaps we don’t realise what we have achieved yet, perhaps in time we will.

“The event was in memory of brave Becky and she would have been very proud.” To make a donation search for ‘back to back marathons’ at www.teenagecancertrust.org
