Elderly couple robbed at their Whitnash home

AN elderly couple were the victims of a robbery at their Whitnash home last Friday.

The couple in their 90s were tied up during the attack, which happened between 11.15pm and midnight on Friday November 25.

They managed to free themselves and raise the alarm. They were then taken to hospital in Warwick as a precautionary measure following their ordeal, but although shaken, thankfully were not seriously injured and were not detained.

The thieves stole the couple’s blue Vauxhall Astra, which was later found near in Coventry close to the A45.

A 37-year-old man, Vanrick Riley of Durbar Avenue, Foleshill was arrested. He has been charged with robbery and dangerous driving and remanded in police custody to appear before magistrates in Leamington today (Monday).

Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the Whitnash area of Leamington on Friday November 25 and may have seen any vehicle acting suspicious in the area between 10.30pm and midnight, or anyone who may have any information regarding the incident.
