Elderly man rescued from fire in Leamington

An elderly man was rescued from a fire in Leamington.

Emergency services were called to the scene the fire last night (Wednesday).

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service were sent to the scene of the incident in Charles Gardner Road at around 6.30pm.

The fire was located in a flat and firefighters rescued an elderly man from the building.

A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 6:31pm last night to this incident on Charles Gardner Road in Leamington.

"We had three fire appliances in attendance. upon arrival, crews found a building of two floors approx 50m x 10m, used as domestic dwelling.

"Fire was located in bedroom, lounge area of ground floor flat.

"One elderly male was rescued from the property and delivered into the care of the ambulance service.

"Crews were at the scene for just over 30 minutes extinguishing the fire.

"Warwickshire Police also attended this incident."

West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for a comment.
