Rugby s planning committee looks set to approve a plan for a car boot sale to be held on Rugby Borough Football Club's Kilsby Lane grounds during the off-season.

The car boots will include a maximum of 30 stalls and will be held on Sundays from 9am to 1pm, with 80 parking spaces for visitors made available by the club.

An original proposal submitted by the club would have seen the car boots held for 28 days between March and September.

But concerns over disruption to neighbouring properties saw council officers recommend that the proposal be reduced to 14 days between May and September - outside of football season.

To further reduce disruption, stall holders will be asked to set up at 8.30am and leave by 2.30pm. Marshalls will also be on the site from 9am to 1pm.

In their report, Rugby council officers write: "This is a short period of noise and disturbance during the day.

"When considering the times in conjunction with the number of pitches proposed on site, it is envisaged that the noise and disturbance is modest in scale due to the footfall of numbers that is to be generated."

Councillors on the planning committee will decide whether to approve the plans at their meeting on Wednesday, March 31.
