International campaign group Extinction Rebellion's Warwick district branch has held a protest in Leamington in response to Government "inaction" over climate chnage.

To highlight the need for action members of XR Warwick District hand delivered an 'Inaction = Death' letter to the offices of local MP’s Matt Western and Jeremy Wright on Thursday June 25.

This was part of a national XR campaign where letters were delivered to all Westminster MP’s at the same time by XR members in other areas.

Later in the day members of XR Warwick District held a peaceful socially distanced protest outside Leamington Town Hall to reinforce the message of "highlighting the woeful inaction of the Government towards the climate and ecological emergency".

Banners displayed the concerns of XR to the passing public.

The group has said: "This was also used as an uplifting occasion as they held a socially distanced picnic to celebrate the reclaiming of streets and highlight the positive steps Warwickshire County Council have taken in closing the Parade to vehicular traffic improving the experience for pedestrians and cyclists."

There was also live music from Leamington musician Shanade.
