A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “A motorist has died in a road traffic collision in Kenilworth in the early hours of this morning.

“Two ambulances and a paramedic area support officer attended the scene.

“There was one patient, a male driver of the vehicle, but sadly it quickly became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

The A46 was closed between Kenilworth and Stoneleigh and traffic through Kenilworth was blocked up through the morning as a result of the incident and a second traffic collision which had a knock-on effect of disruption into Coventry.
