Fight to bring down high amputee rates heads to Warwick
The charity is calling on health bosses to tackle the high number of diabetes-related amputations in South Warwickshire which are well above the national average with 118 diabetes-related amputations in the past three years.
Peter Shorrick, Diabetes UK regional manager, said: “We are saying today that enough is enough. The people of South Warwickshire deserve much better diabetes foot care than they are currently receiving.

Every amputation is a tragedy, it is extremely traumatic and has a devastating impact on quality of life.
“People are losing toes, feet and limbs when better healthcare, such as annual foot checks and access to specialist foot care teams, could have prevented this from happening.
“It is also extremely costly for the NHS at a time when money is incredibly tight.”
