Fishes and Torpedoes swim for charity

SCOUTS in Harbury are putting their fitness skills into practice by taking part in the Soroptimists’ Swimathon this month and raising funds for charity.

The Harbury Fishes and the Harbury Torpedoes are joining organisations, community groups, work colleagues and friends from across south Warwickshire taking part in the event, which is organised by the Warwick and Leamington and Kenilworth branches of the Soroptimists International and takes place at Warwick School on Sunday October 14.

Founded over 40 years ago, the Scout troup now has 28 members in five patrols under the leadership of John Rea. Outdoor activities are particularly popular and a highlight of the year is the stay in the Peak District.

Although the closing date for entries is this Sunday (October 7), there are still two spaces left for teams to swim on the day at 3pm. Teams must be made up of six swimmers and a non-swimming captain.
