Five suffer effects of heat after becoming trapped in station lift

FIVE people suffered from heat exhaustion after they were trapped in a lift at Warwick Parkway railway station yesterday evening (Thursday May 24).

Firefighters from Leamington freed the travellers, including one person who had collapsed, after being called to the station at 8.48pm.

An ambulance crew treated one woman at the scene.

A Chiltern Railways spokeswoman said: “At around 8.45pm we received information that there were people stuck in our lift at Warwick Parkway. Our security on site took the decision to call the fire and rescue service who gave a fast response and released them within 40 minutes.

“We also took the decision to bring our station host on site to meet those who were in the lift. We will be investigating this incident and speaking to the customers involved.”
