Footprints in the snow led police to robbery suspects

Four people have been charged with robbery after police followed footprints in the snow to trace the suspects.

Members of staff at the convenience store on Heathcote Road in Whitnash were threatened by two males who stole a quantity of cash, stamps and lottery scratch cards in the robbery which took place on Saturday shortly after 7.30am.

Officers attended the scene and were able to follow footprints in the snow to a block of flats nearby.

Further enquiries led them to a second address where four people were arrested.

Two other suspects were arrested later in the day.

All six were questioned in relation to the robbery - with two being released without charge - and John Charles Ryder, 38, Kevin Lee McGregor, 24, and Maggie Ryder, 47, all of Masters Road, Leamington, were remanded in custody and appeared before magistrates in Leamington on Monday where they were further remanded to return to the court on Thursday.

John Ryder was further charged with resisting arrest.

A 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was released on bail and appeared before the juvenile court in Leamington on Monday.

She was bailed to return to the court on Thursday.
