Former Kingsley girl is BBC judge

Sophie Robinson, whose family home is in Moreton Morrell, is running the rule over the work of Britain’s keenest amateur designers in The Great Interior Design Challenge - a 12-part series which started last Monday.

The former BBC Good Homes magazine editor who is working alongside Daniel Hopwood, the acting president of the British Institute of Interior Design, said: “We’ve been given the task of judging Britain’s hottest amateur design talent and I’ll be looking for designers who have the confidence and the ability to use colour and pattern in their schemes; who can interpret the client’s brief and deliver a room that exceeds their expectations whilst eking out every inch of their budget to deliver the most value for money.”

Sophie, who has previously featured as on-screen interior designer for ITV’s ‘60 Minute Makeovers’  and Channel 5’s ‘Cowboy Builders’, is one of the industry’s top interior stylists, regularly employed by Britain’s TV Companies, best-selling magazines and corporate clients to produce inspirational yet achievable room designs.

After graduating with a BA Hons in 3D Design, Sophie joined BBC Good Homes magazine.

As their homes editor she worked with a team of stylists to produce the monthly decorating and shopping pages before going freelance as an interior stylist, working for Britain’s top selling titles, including Ideal Home, House Beautiful, Homes and Gardens and Homes and Antiques.

For the past eight years she has also produced exhibition room sets for The Ideal Home Show.

In her early days, Sophie was a successful rally driver, achieving top three placings in the National BW Polo Championship and long distance events to Athens and Tunisia.
