Bill Sewell, of Hillmorton, had been growing the beard for six weeks in an attempt to raise money for the hospice.

The 80-year-old, who was Mayor of Rugby in 2008, completed the challenge in memory of his wife, Janet, who died aged 76 after battling with a debilitating condition.

The couple would have been married 55 years in December.

Bill said: “Unless you have experienced it first hand, it is impossible to describe how amazing Myton Hospice is.”

All services available across the three hospices are provided free of charge and Myton therefore needs to raise over £8 million each year to continue providing these services.
