Former Warwick pub transformed into new food store

Last week a new Co-operative food store was opened on Cape Road on the former site of the Jolly Miller pub.

Pupils from St Mary Immaculate Catholic Primary School joined members of staff from Midcounties Co-operative to officially open the store.

The new store, which has created 15 jobs, opened last Wednesday.

The opening event saw shoppers and pupils enjoying games, activities and giveaways.

Mike Seaton, store manager at the Cape Road Food store, said: “This new store will add more choice and variety for shoppers in Warwick that enables them to pick up grocery essentials with a focus on great quality food and drink.

“The opening day was really enjoyable, and it was great to welcome local schoolchildren to do the honours and officially cut the ribbon.

“Forging relationships with schools, organisations and charities in the area is a key objective for us, and we’re looking forward to playing an active role in our community.”

The new store will also become part of the Midcounties Co-operative Regional Communities strategy, which sees Co-operative members and staff come together to provide support for local community groups through volunteering and fundraising initiatives.

The new store on Cape Road will be open seven-days a week from 7am to 11pm.
