Former Warwickshire detective charged with stealing £113,000 pleads not guilty

A former detective constable who Warwickshire Police had initially refused to name has pleaded not guilty in court to stealing £113,000 from the force’s headquarters.

Paul Andrew Greaves appeared before magistrates at Warwickshire Justice Centre in Leamington on Wednesday.

The 54-year-old, who lived in Harbury but has since moved to Nottingham, pleaded not guilty to stealing the cash from the Leek Wootton headquarters.

The theft is alleged to have taken place between June 2009 and September 2011 – at a time when Greaves, who is now retired, was a detective constable with the force.

His case was adjourned until July 1 and Greaves was granted bail until then.

Warwickshire Police had initially declined to name Greaves after he had been charged with the theft last month.
