From small acorns large oaks grow

Shoppers packed the store following a ribbon-cutting ceremony in High Street on Saturday.

Sales of donated goods will help raise vital funds to support care for life limited children at Acorns Children’s Hospice, which costs £750 a day, per child, mostly raised from the community.

Cllr Gaffney said: “I believe Acorns do such a fantastic job of care, which depends on public donations to this very worthwhile charity.

“Southam already has a connection with Acorns through the Christmas Tree of Light, and local people’s generosity has raised £13,000 since I and another rotarian started it here in 2005.

“I am delighted Acorns have come here.”

The mayor met four-year-old Ellie-Mae Bailey, of Fenny Compton, who celebrated the opening with mum Nicci by snapping up a Belle outfit from Beauty and the Beast.

Cherry Bromhead, Acorns’ area retail manager, said: “It was great to see so many local people along to join in the celebrations and welcome Acorns to the town.”
