Full council tax on second homes in Warwick district
OWNERS of second homes around Leamington, Warwick and Kenilworth will have to pay full council tax on both their properties, if senior councillors’ recommendations are approved.
Warwick District Council’s executive has agreed to support an option put forward by the Government to abolish council tax exemptions for certain homeowners and reduce the discounts of others.
Under the Government’s proposals, councils could make owners of second homes pay the full amount or reduce their discounts and make the mortgagees responsible for homes that are possessed liable to pay.
