Gang threatened staff with crowbar in One Stop robbery

Men threatened staff with a crowbar before making off with cigarettes and cash in a Kenilworth robbery.

The One Stop shop in the Oaks Precinct was rushed by three thieves armed with a crowbar at around 9.15pm on Tuesday.

The men, all wearing dark clothing, forced staff to the rear of the store and forced then to open the safe.

They then emptied a large quantity of cigarettes and cash into what is believed to be a purple and pink quilt cover before making off with the goods.

There were two members of staff and a shopper in the store at the time of the incident but noone was harmed in the raid.

Police are examining CCTV footage and appealing for information to help track down those behind the attack.

The first man is described as possibly black, six feet two inches tall and wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a black jacket and a black ski mask.

The second is described as white, around five feet nine inches tall and of stocky build. He was wearing black trousers and jacket, white reflective sunglasses and a hat.

The third is described as around six feet tall and wearing black clothing and a hat.

DC Imran Ghouri, who is leading the investigation, said: “We would like to hear from anyone who has seen any suspicious activity around the Oaks Precinct in the days leading up to the robbery, or saw anything on the night.

“The offenders used a very distinctive looking quilt to carry the goods away and someone may have noticed that and thought it was strange.”
