Garden walk to help buy lifesaving equipment

LIFE-SAVING volunteers at the Royal National Lifeboat Institute are in need of new lifejackets - and people in Leamington can help by taking part in a fundraising walk towards the cause.

Anyone can take part by walking as many laps of the Pump Room Gardens as they wish between 11am and 3pm on Sunday April 22.

Each of the RNLI’s lifeboat stations will need between £2,000 and £11,000 to buy the new equipment. For sponsorship forms, call Chris Daly on 772599 or email [email protected]

The charity is also holding a fundraising quiz night at Cubbington Sports and Social Club in Windmill Hill, Cubbington, on Friday April 27 from 7.30pm. Entry costs £2.50 per person and although participants are required to be in teams of four, anyone who is not in a team can turn up on the night and join an impromptu team.

To find out more, call Anne Merrall on 888804 or email [email protected] In 2010 the RNLI, which receives no Government funding, rescued 8,313 people. To find out more about the charity, go online.
