Generous golfers hit the tee to help patients at Myton

GOLFERS in Leamington have helped to raise more than £10,000 for charity.

Newbold Comyn Golf Course opened up the tee last Friday for people to play – and instead of charging players, they asked them to make a donation towards the Myton Hospices.

Around 150 people turned up on the day. Andy Hicks, head golf professional at the course, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of all the participants. Myton Hospice cared for my grandfather last year, so I’m delighted we were able to give something back to such a great cause.”

The event itself raised more than £600 which, added to funds raised a previous events organised by the Newbold Comyn team, has exceeded their target of amassing more than £10,000 for charities in the area, including Myton.
