Warwick Racecourse will bring its first Racing Carnival to the town in May and wants you to get involved to help set the celebrations off in style. The carnival will include three racedays, hopes to get 12,000 people through the gates to celebrate everything that is great about the town and open out to families.

The line-up includes a family raceday, the Proudly Warwick Raceday, and a Think Pink Ladies Day to round the celebrations off.

The Warwick Family Raceday will be held on May 2 and encourages all ages to come and enjoy the atmosphere.

Main event, Proudly Warwick will run in the evening on Saturday May 7 and feature a medieval banquet alongside opportunities for businesses to show what they can offer.

To help get the town in the mood, shops are being invited to dress their windows to the theme of ‘a day at the races’ and be in with chances of winning a £250 cash prize.

A final, ladies’ day will be held at the track on May 18 to round off celebrations at one of the UK’s oldest racecourses.

Manager, Andre Klein said the new evens are all about building up to the summer by strengthening links with the town where so much history has been shared.

He said: “We are delighted to be launching this new sporting celebration.

“I have been in my post since November and have been really encouraged by the momentum we’ve been building in attracting people to the venue.

“There is however still a lot of work to do to raise the profile of the racecourse and what we are trying to do amongst the community, and this is what the Warwick May Racing Carnival is all about.

“For me, there is not one day or event in our fixture list that endears itself to the people of Warwick, and it is my hope that the creation of the May Racing Carnival will rectify this major omission.”

The Proudly Warwick shop window contest runs from April 21, with winners announced on May 4

Warwick residents can get their hands on £10 entry on the evening at the gate, and will be entered into a prize draw to win memberships.
