Now in its second year, the event - organised by the Rotary Club of Warwick Avon, will see 20 hardy groups of friends, families or colleagues row together and race against one another along the River Avon this Sunday (September 20) in aid of charity.

As well as for Myton, this year’s race is also raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital. Last year’s event raised £7,000.

The Myton Hospices are entering their own team (pictured), which includes the charity’s community fundraiser Anita Burrows. She said: “It is going to be a fantastic day, with lots of excitement taking place on the water and also along the river bank with a barbecue, bouncy castle and the children’s play area and funfair in the park.

“We are thrilled to be working with the Rotary Club of Warwick Avon at this event and thank them for all of their wonderful support. Let’s hope we can raise as much money as possible.”

Each team will include 16 rowers plus a drummer and the race starts at Warwick Boat Centre in St Nicholas Park from 10am. There may still be time to enter a team.
