The county council’s Heritage and Culture team is running a variety of different sessions: the next one is a workshop on reading 16th century handwriting at Warwickshire County Record Office at Priory Park, Warwick, on Saturday January 23 from 9.15am to 12.15pm. During this period some valuable documents for local and family history were produced and participants will gain hands-on practice at reading the tricky handwriting, with the guidance of local historian Christine Hodgetts. Places cost £12.

On Monday January 25, there will be a Behind the Scenes at the Archives session at the county record office, from 10.30am to noon, during which participants will learn how to use the record office, tour the strongrooms, view original records and discover how the team there cares for Warwickshire’s records. Places cost £5.

To book a place at either workshop, call 01926 738959.
