Girl found under crashed car in Leek Wootton escapes with minor injuries

A LEEK WOOTTON schoolgirl found under a crashed car yesterday (Wednesday) suffered only minor injuries.

The eight-year-old was trapped beneath a car that appeared to have left the car park of All Saints Primary School, travelled across a pavement, through a fence and some bushes before coming to a halt.

The accident happened at around 4.40pm. A senior ambulance officer who was first at the scene found the girl being tended to by teachers, and had to roll the car off the girl’s leg before starting treatment.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was called, but the girl had suffered only a minor head injury, a burn to her left thigh from being dragged by the car and minor abrasions to her arms and legs, with no obvious breaks.

The girl was given pain relief before being airlifted to University Hospital, Coventry.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It certainly appears as though she has been very lucky to get away with such minor injuries.”

An elderly woman driving the car was not injured.
