Going for Gold: 1,000 children in world record attempt
The attempt to create the Largest Human Image of a Bicycle was attempted to coincide with the Aviva Women’s Tour which will come through the town on Thursday June 16.
The light-hearted record attempt saw 1,017 people create the shape, made up of eager pupils from Coten End, West Gate, Briar Hill and Newburgh primary schools, who all stepped up to the challenge - helped by teachers and staff.

Hide AdThe children had five minutes as stipulated by stringent Guinness World Record criteria on Wednesday, and were verified by timekeepers from Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club. Once verified and confirmed, the results will be announced on race day.
The current record stands at 794 people and was set in Cumbria by the Silloth-on-Solway community during the Tour of Britain in September last year. Organised by Warwickshire County Council, the record attempt was part of ongoing efforts to engage and excite the next generation of cyclists and athletes. The photo above was taken by Chris Fossey.
