Guide for Old Town in Leamington will help students

Leamington Old Town Team is set to launch a new guide to the area in October which will be aimed at helping students make use of its shops and facilities.

The team, which was formed in 2012 as part of the successful bid for £100,000 of Mary Portas grant money to give the area a boost, feels it is more important than ever to let people know what’s available in Old Town.

Many new cafes, restaurants and vegan outlets have opened up since the Portas project started, and the team says there is now a vibrant café and pavement culture evolving on Clemens Street and Regent Place.

Project leader Jeremy Ireland said: “We have seen four new 24-hour cash machines open since we started only two-and-a-half years ago, which shows how quickly this area is gaining momentum.

“You no longer need to leave the area to get money to spend in the many restaurants and bars, and this helps keep people on the local circuit.”

The guide will be available at several venues throughout Leamington and Warwickshire and will be recognisable by its large pink heart-shaped logo and street art themes.

Antonia, of Sally & Antonia Creative Design and Marketing which created the guide, said: “It dramatically highlights the many different aspects of Old Town - from practical and advice-based businesses to world food zones, the many specialist art, up-cycling, creative and artistic venues in the area as well as a thriving café culture.”

The creators of the guide are aware it does not cover every single thing Old Town has to offer but Georgia Middleton, an executive member of the old Town Team, said that, at the very least, it would point people in the right direction to find information for themselves.
