Gymnast had little stars jumping

BACKFLIPS and cartwheels were among the athletic manoeuvres with which an Olympic hopeful impressed pupils at a Leamington school recently.

Gymnast Harry Owen, who is also aiming to compete for Great Britain in the next Commonwealth Games, visited Telford Infant School in Kelvin Road to lead a morning of sponsored activities.

The whole school tried star jumps, press-ups and various other moves.

Mr Owen also demonstrated his skills in a special assembly at the end of the morning.

The money raised by the sponsored activities will be split between the school, to buy new PE equipment, and the charity Action For Children.

The event was organised by Sports for Schools.
