At a time when venues are closing all around the country there's a bright new future in store for one flourishing club at the heart of its community.

After a major refurbishment, the Hillmorton Ex-Servicemen’s Club will soon be reaching out to people all across Rugby, offering a new option for functions and celebrations.

The club is in High Street and was established after the First World War as The Discharged and Demobilised Sailors, Soldiers and Airman’s Association.

It is now in sight of celebrating its centenary in 2020.

All of the club’s public rooms have been refurbished in recent years with the recent work on the function/concert room completing the work to renovate the inside of the building.

The refurbishment has cost in excess of £40,000 with all of the money raised by the club.

It is a long established and valued part of the local community in Hillmorton which regularly hosts charity events for which room hire fees are waived.

Secretary Anthony Hill, said: “The club is a real asset for the local community in Hillmorton but we hope we can now extend our appeal in Rugby by offering fully refurbished function rooms suitable for every occasion and celebration.

“It has been a long road to get to where we are today but the results are clear for everyone to see.

“I would encourage anyone looking for a modern, all-encompassing function room to host an event to get in touch, you will not be disappointed.”

- The club will be officially re-opened by Rugby Mayor Cllr Sally Bragg and MP Mark Pawsey next Friday, October 21, at 7pm.
