The event included 52 beers from various parts of the country and challenged county brewers to produce special ales to mark the 40th anniversary of the Campaign for Real Ale group for which its Heart of Warwickshire branch had organised the festival.

The winner of this competition was the Church End Brewery in Nuneaton with its Fortified bitter.

The festival’s overall winner was the Wales-based Purple Moose brewery with its Cwrw Ysgawen elderflower ale. John Crossling, the Heart of Warwickshire branch chairman, said: “The festival went brilliantly and we’re really pleased.

All the figures were up from last year and we have heard a lot of positive comments about the atmosphere.” www.camrahow.org.uk
