Hats off to those who braved bad weather

THERE was rain, and then there was more rain for the Mayor of Leamington’s Mad Hatters’ walk around Jephson Gardens on bank holiday Monday.

Despite it all some 50 hardy - and highly inventive souls - turned up to join Cllr Alan Wilkinson and Mayoress Jo Crozier on a colourful tour of the park.

Even the Mayor of Banbury, Cllr Alastair Milne-Horne, drove over to offer his support - and won a prize for wearing the tallest hat on show.

Another prize went to Gillian Hundt who decked out her hat with balls of knitting wool and needles.

Ms Crozier said: “Thanks to everyone we’ve raised £700 towards Epilepsy Research, BasicNeeds and the Leamington Refuge.”
