Hatton Country World’s special gift to Acorns Children’s Hospice kids

Hundreds of children with life-limiting conditions have been given a very special yuletide treat by travelling deep into the Warwickshire countryside to find Father Christmas’s grotto.

More than 150 youngsters from Acorns Children’s Hospice visited Hatton Country World, near Warwick, to meet Father Christmas and his live reindeer on Friday.

A party of almost 300 children and their families from the Birmingham and Worcester branches of the West Midlands based charity were given free and exclusive access to the elaborate and exciting grotto at Hatton Adventure World, the day before it opened to the public.

Chris Reed, head of care services at Acorns Birmingham hospice, said: “This was a marvellous treat for the children and their families.

“Many are unable to easily visit grottos because busy crowds and lack of access.

“This was a hugely generous gesture by Hatton that will provide a wonderful evening of special memories at a special time of the year.”

Johnnie Arkwright, who owns Hatton Country World, said :“When Acorns approached us we were delighted to help out with this special day and to play our part in giving these brave young children the Christmas of their dreams.

“Acorns is a tremendous charity and we are just pleased to have been asked to support them in this way,”
