Healthcare watchdog to air views of patients

A NEW organisation that aims to ensure that patients’ views on health are taking into account by decision-makers is to be set up in Warwickshire from April next year.

Healthwatch, to be managed by Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (CAVA), Age UK Warwickshire and the county’s citizens advice bureau, will be responsible for gathering and communicating patients’s views, promoting the involvement of people in the commissioning and provision of care services in the county, recommending investigations into services where deemed necessary and working with other Healthwatch organisations across the country.

Paul Tolley, chief executive of Warwickshire CAVA, said: “We are convinced that the knowledge, skills and reach of our sector will be critical to the success of Healthwatch in Warwickshire.

“We are extremely keen to engage with voluntary sector organisations who could strengthen our partnership and ensure that the provision of this service is retained within the sector.”
