Heart starters in two towns as defibrillator gathers pace

Yesterday (Thursday), Whitnash mayor Cllr Adrian Barton unveiled a public access defibrillator at the shops in Acre Close.

And Warwick Rotary Club has unanimously agreed to have a device installed outside Shire Hall.

Club president Roy Joyner said: “The whole club was keen to get one right in the middle of Warwick where there are so many public events.

“Within a few weeks emergency assistance will be readily available 24-7.

“The defibrillator will be provided through Adrian Lewis of Defibfinder and follows discussions to secure provision in public locations throughout the area.”

Mr Lewis’s campaign to make Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth and the surrounding areas among the safest places to live in the UK is slowly but surely winning hearts and minds.

The family of Warwick man John ‘Johnny’ Hunt, who died recently, are supporting The Heart of England Defibrillator Campaign and a collection, organised with the help of Co-op Funeral Directors, has raised £245 towards a defibrillator for Chase Meadow.

A tea party, organised by Cllr Barton and held last month, brought together the mayors of Warwick, Leamington, Atherstone, Kenilworth and Coleshill and the deputy mayor of Stratford along with representatives of The Royal British Legion and the regional commissioner for Scouts Dave Bramston.

Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White also attended the event, which featured a demonstration of how to use a defibrillator.

The tea party raised more than £400 towards a second defibrillator for Whitnash.
