Home care group plan for the future

HOME care provider Carewatch held their annual conference last month, with a focus on the future of NHS social care commissioning.

They also looked at how Carewatch is well positioned to deliver services to the health and specialist care sector and the crowd of over 100 were unified in their belief that NHS reforms and the future of funding of care will lead to a merging of health and social care.

The conference was addressed by Dr James Kingsland, the Department of Health’s national clinical commissioning network lead for England who chaired an open discussion on GP commissioning.

Chief executive at Carewatch David Lyon said: “All those attending our conference were keen to learn how future plans for GP commissioning will work in practice, and how it will improve the seamless delivery of social care.

“There is enormous potential for social care providers to complement the NHS by providing cost-effective alternatives to hospitalisation for many older and vulnerable people.”

The conference closed with an awards ceremony to recognise individual’s providing outstanding care services. Fran Scott & Steve Cooper of Carewatch South Warwickshire won the final of the national competition and were amongst a number of other winners from across the UK in an evening which celebrated Carewatch’s continued business growth.

Carewatch has over 150 offices which provide care services to the elderly or frail, children and families, and people with mental or physical health problems.

The annual conference has been running for over ten years and provides an opportunity for Carewatch members to share knowledge and best practice techniques.
