HS2 money not included in council’s budget

MONEY which was set aside to support a national campaign group against HS2 is yet to be fully spent but more will be required next year.

Warwick District Council has already given £100,000 to the 51m group and council leader Cllr Michael Doody (Con, Radford Semele) recently pledged a further £100,000 to the cause.

At a meeting of the authority’s executive committee last week, Cllr Doody said: “We believe the money may last until next year but there will need to be a commitment in the summertime toward the end of the year 2012 to 13 and therefore it’s not in the budget but it can be accommodated within the reserves.”
