Injured driver cut free from wrecked car after head-on crash near Rugby

An injured driver was rushed to hospital after being cut free from his car by firefighters after a serious head-on crash on the A5 near Lutterworth last night (Thursday).
Police and ambulances also dashed to the scene as the man was rescued from his black car after he collided with another car near Magna Park logistics centre on a very wet night.

Hide AdA fire engine and Tactical Response Vehicle from nearby Lutterworth fire station raced to the spot along with an appliance from Leicester’s Southern station when the alarm was raised at about 8.45pm.
“Crews extricated one male casualty from vehicle following a full roof removal of one of the vehicles,” said Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.
The casualty was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire by land ambulance.
The driver of the second car miraculously escaped unscathed.

Hide Ad“The other driver was taken to hospital for treatment, his injuries do not suggest they are life threatening or life changing,” said Leicestershire Police.
Police closed the road for almost three hours as they launched an immediate investigation into the smash and cleared wreckage strewn all over the highway.
The busy A5 road was finally reopened at about 11.30pm last night, said police.
