The money had been seized following a successful operation that resulted in the conviction of three people at Warwick Crown Court in January 2010 for a variety of offences including possession of firearms and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The money was reported as missing on September 30 2011.

Since this date, a confidential investigation has been taking place to try and identify those responsible for the theft.

The force has now determined that a wider appeal for information from its workforce and the public is necessary.

All members of the force have been informed of the theft and anyone with any information is asked to 415000 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
