Jane's dream is one step nearer

A mother from Rugby who has been fighting MS for the past 16 years is already seeing significant improvements after receiving new stem cell treatment.

Friends and family have been raising funds for Jane Gould to help pay for the therapy in America.

Since the first round, Jane, 43, said: “One of the most exciting things I’ve experienced since having the first round of stem cell therapy is being able to get into my car without manually lifting my left leg and putting it inside.

“I feel really positive and I am noticing definite changes.”

As Jane’s condition has progressed, her body seizes up and she now has to rely on her partner, Travis, and her two teenagers to help her get dressed due to lack of fine motor skills.

She said: “I want my body to do something, but however much I ask it to it won’t. It sometimes does it a little which is how I can still stand for short periods and walk, very slowly and wobbly - with assistance. That to me feels like a blocked tap which only lets a little bit of water through.”

Jane, who attended Harris School and is daughter of Rugby vicar Pam Gould and husband Bruce, used to love exercising and being active.

She played county netball, hockey and athletics as a girl and then went on to yoga and hiking.

There are invisible symptoms as well such as numbness, tingling, loss of balance and depression.

Jane said: “I refuse to sit by and let the MS win.”
