Jolly time had by all

THE Jolly Roger flew high when children at a Southam Primary School reached the end of a week studying all things marine and maritime.

As part of their ‘under the sea’ topic the reception class at St James Primary School visited the Sea Life Centre in Birmingham, baked shark-themed cakes and wrote books about sharks and played in submarine.

But after studying the perils that lie beneath the sea, pupils donned eye patches, bicorne hats and wasitcoats to dress up as the scourge of the high seas - pirates.

Teacher Susan Wright said: “The children have had a whale of a time. They are all ready to share what they have learnt with their parents and friends, in their class assembly next week.”
