Justice secretary visits county’s police HQ

SECRETARY of State for Justice Chris Grayling visited Warwickshire Probation Trust at the Warwickshire Justice Centre in Leamington last week.

The Lord Chancellor, who has been Secretary of State for Justice since September, was joined on the visit by Chris White, local MP for Leamington and Warwickshire magistrate Clare Sawdon.

He met the Probation Trust’s board chairman Robin Verso and the chief executive, Liz Stafford for discussions about the recently published “Transforming Rehabilitation” consultation.

He also met two offender managers and heard about two of their cases.

Ms Stafford, said: “We were delighted to welcome Chris Grayling to the Justice Centre,which we are very proud of, and to have the opportunity to talk to him about the major changes planned for probation.

Transforming Rehabilitation – a revolution in the way we manage offenders, describes the Government’s proposals for reforming the delivery of offender services in the community to reduce reoffending rates while delivering improved value for money for the tax payer.
