36 people packed into the Kenilworth Centre to play a game of Whist, raising £350 for the charity Muktangan, which aims to provide a better quality of education for Indian children.

Alison Jackson, a former Kenilworth School maths teacher, organised the game and wanted to raise money for Muktangan because of her experiences of helping maths teachers in Mumbai a year ago.

She said: “I thought it was a great occasion. We all had a good time and raised a high amount of money - £350 will fund a teacher for six months.”

Muktangan provides free schools for children and trains teachers to teach in English so their pupils can access tertiary education in India, which is only taught in English.
