Kenilworth man charged after Willes Road deaths

A Kenilworth man has been charged with three counts of driving while over the limit following a fatal collision in Leamington in June.

Jamie Riddick, aged 21 of Albion Street was charged on Tuesday with three counts of causing death by careless driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

He has been bailed to appear at Leamington Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 7 when a plea will be entered.

Police opened investigation after a fatal collision on Radford Road at around 2.45am on Sunday, June 20.

Nathan Rhodes aged 23, Ryan Case aged 25 and Emily Jennings aged 27, all died after the car they were travelling in left the road near to the junction of Willes Road and Eastnor Grove.

In the following days, flowers and messages in tribute and sympathy were left at the roadside, including a Coventry City football shirt.

The mother of 23-year-old Nathan wrote: “I know I am never going to see your smiling face again but I will never forget it. I love you so much and always will my darling boy. Sleep tight my own guardian angel.”

His brother Simon also wrote an emotional tribute following the fatal accident, reading: “I really hope you’re enjoying it up there. I cannot tell you how much you’re going to be missed. I truly did love you and I’ll never be the same without you.”

Friends of the three organised a fundraising night in August to help pay for a memorial.
