Kineton Music Fest raises £6k for charity

Crowds partying on into the night at Kineton Music Festival.

Now in its second year, the event - held at the village’s sports and social club on June 21 - was organised by Kineton people and included performances by 20 bands, stalls, food and drink - and plenty of Pimms to sip as temperatures soared into the high 20s.

Greg Molan of the festival organising committee said around double the number of people came to this year’s event compared to last year - which helped to raise £6,500 for the Myton Hospices and Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.

He said: “The success of the festival has cemented its credibility and shown that it has strong local support. We are confident that we can establish it as a key summer event for years to come.”

Among the festival-goers was Kenilworth and Southam MP Jeremy Wright, after holding his MP’s surgery in the village that morning. Speaking afterwards, he said: “I was amazed at the scale and professionalism of the festival.

“For an event that only started last year, it has already moved on in leaps and bounds and to have been looking at attendance of over 1,000 was quite remarkable.

“It is inspiring to see what a small community can do with imagination, hard work and enthusiasm, not to mention a passion for live music. Not only did they put on a stunning event, but also expected to raise thousands of pounds for local charities.”
