Final preparations are now underway for this year’s Lantern Parade in Leamington, which will light up the town centre on Thursday (December 12).

For the past six week, families have been working hard making lanterns of all shapes and sizes at workshops hosted by various businesses across the town.

Following on from last year’s successful event, the parade will coincide with late night Christmas shopping. There will also be music, real reindeer, stilt walkers and other entertainment, starting from 5pm at the Pump Room Gardens.

Leamington BID’s executive director Stephanie Kerr is hoping that this year, the parade will be “even more spectacular” than last year. She said: “Around 1,000 beautiful handmade lanterns were produced by families and school children last year, ranging from angels and Christmas trees to snowmen and animals – we even had a wonderful Gruffalo! We want to build on the sense of community spirit and invite even more people to join in.”
