Le Bon voyage for Children’s Air Ambulance

After making its first public appearance in London and then taking to the skies to visit its main base at Coventry Airport in Baginton, the new Children’s Air Ambulance touched down in Warwickshire’s county town for a stop at the charity’s shop in Market Place.

The service will transfer critically ill children from general hospitals to paediatric intensive care units across England and Wales or help move specialist paediatric teams to the ill children so that they can be treated as quickly as possible.

Simon Le Bon, who is supporting the charity, said: “The Children’s Air Ambulance is a fantastic new service that is desperately needed throughout the UK. Each year, thousands of seriously ill children need urgent care at specialist hospitals. But at the moment, they can face long road journeys, which could be detrimental to getting the lifesaving help they need.

“This service relies completely on charitable donations from the public. It is my intention to do all I can to raise the profile of the charity and to help raise the money that is so crucial to keeping the service running.”

The service needs a further £545,000 before it can begin to run and then £134,000 will be required each month to maintain it. Operating under the umbrella service of the Air Ambulance Service, the Children’s Air Ambulance will benefit from its existing medical, aviation and core fundraising expertise.
