Leamington community woods can soon begin its education project
And now Foundry Wood, which was last month handed over to community ownership, is well on its way to starting its first education project, engaging with 15 schools in the area.
Having obtained enough funding to get the scheme going, the Foundry Wood steering group is now looking for someone to fulfil a 12-month role of education advisor to establish relationships with schools and community groups, so that children can regularly visit the woods.

Meanwhile, children have had the opportunity to explore the wood during half term, when Halloween activities took place and a pine cone firelighter workshop was held on Tuesday (see picture).
On Saturday (November 3), adults and children can help to build a customised bike shelter for Foundry Wood, for which funding has been obtained from Warwick District Council Small Grants Fund and the Mid Counties Coop Community Fund. Help is also needed to dig holes for a new entrance sign to the wood. Warm and waterproof clothing should be worn. For details, visit www.foundrywood.co.uk
